We worked with the Cranborne Chase and West Wiltshire Downs AONB to identify the most pertinent indicators which could be used to assess the changing condition of the AONB's special qualities. The indicators chosen were drawn from Natural England guidance, research undertaken by the South West Protected Landscapes Forum, and the AONBs own Landscape Character Assessment. The set of indicators chosen were rationalised to ensure:

• the data will cotinue to be available
• the indicators chosen would offer improved condition mointoring.
