As GIS usage becomes more widespread, and computing power increases, more and more people wish to harness the ability to create a more useful map.

VRML

One way to do this is through the use of a Virtual Reality Modelling Language (VRML).

We use PAVAN VRML to generate these virtual worlds, which can have many practical uses, particularly in the fields of Planning.

It is possible to create a grid, drape an aerial image, and then add buildings from the Ordnance Survey map base. These buildings can then have height data added, roofs, and colours - you can even add lamp posts and phone boxes!

All buildings were captured in 'one hit' from the building footprints. Heights were added to individual buildings as required.
